Get Started with Padel Pointer Studio

Start from zero: install Padel Pointer, score the match you are filming on Apple Watch, send it to Studio, and create your first video scoreboard.

The only part you do on court is film and tap the score on your Watch. Account setup, styling, and export can all happen afterwards.

What you’ll need

  • An iPhone and a paired Apple Watch. The Watch records the point-by-point timing Studio needs.
  • A camera or phone recording the match, ideally as one continuous video.
  • Internet access after the match to create a Studio account and send the match from your iPhone.
  • For your first scoreboard, use a set-based match setup such as Standard. Americano and other point-race matches can sync, but Studio does not currently create overlays for them.
Step 1

Install Padel Pointer on iPhone and Apple Watch

  • Download Padel Pointer from the App Store and open it on your iPhone.
  • Complete the short setup and follow the on-screen permission prompts.
  • The Apple Watch app normally installs with the iPhone app. If it is missing, open the Watch app on iPhone, scroll to Available Apps, and tap Install beside Padel Pointer.
  • Open Padel Pointer on your Watch once before match day so you know it is ready.

Step 2

Film the match and score every point on your Watch

  • Start your camera recording before you begin the match. A continuous recording is easiest to align later.
  • On Apple Watch, open Padel Pointer, tap New match, and choose a set-based setup such as Standard. Confirm the deuce rule and who serves first.
  • During play, tap the upper Them area when your opponents win a point and the lower You area when your team wins. Use the centre undo arrow if you tap the wrong side.
  • When the match finishes, swipe left to the controls, tap END, confirm End Match, wait for the saved summary, then tap Done.
  • Studio builds the scoreboard from your Watch taps and their timestamps; it does not read or guess the score from your footage.
Step 3

Check that the match has reached your iPhone

  • Open Padel Pointer on iPhone after the Watch summary is saved. Your Watch-recorded match should appear automatically in the app.
  • Open the match and check the score before sending it to Studio.
  • If it has not appeared, keep the paired devices nearby, open Padel Pointer on both, and give them a moment to finish syncing before continuing.
Step 4

Create a Studio account and link this iPhone

  • In the iPhone app, open Settings, find Padel Pointer Studio, and tap Connect to Studio.
  • Tap Create Studio account, register in the browser, and verify your email if asked. Already registered? Choose Log in to my account instead.
  • On Studio's Link your iPhone screen, tap Open in Padel Pointer. If Studio is open on a laptop or iPad, scan the QR code with your iPhone Camera instead.
  • Check the masked email address in Padel Pointer, then tap Connect and Choose Matches. Opening the link alone does not upload anything.

Step 5

Choose the match you want to send

  • After you confirm the account, select the Watch-recorded match you just filmed. A filled checkmark means it is selected.
  • Check the match date and final score, then tap Sync 1 match and keep Padel Pointer open until the result appears.
  • Return to Studio in your browser. The match should now be visible under Recent matches and Matches.
  • Your Watch never connects to Studio directly. It saves the match to the paired iPhone, and the iPhone sends only the matches you choose.

Step 6

Build and download your first scoreboard

  • In Studio, open Matches, choose the match, and select Set up scoreboard.
  • Choose a template, enter the four player names, and select 16:9 for horizontal video or 9:16 for vertical video. Adjust the scoreboard's position and size on the preview.
  • Leave Sync video timing on for the easiest edit. Open the original video on iPhone, swipe up or tap Info, then enter its recording start time and the correct time zone in Studio.
  • Select Generate scoreboard. When the ZIP downloads, extract it and place the transparent .mov file on a video track above your match footage in your editor.
  • If you turn video timing off, the scoreboard starts immediately at the beginning of the generated file and you will need to align it manually in your editor.

You’re ready when

  • The completed Watch match appears on iPhone with the expected final score.
  • Padel Pointer Settings shows Studio as Connected with the correct masked account.
  • The selected match appears in Studio and its Set up scoreboard action is available.
  • Your downloaded ZIP contains the transparent scoreboard video ready to place above your footage.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an Apple Watch to use Studio?

Yes for this scoreboard workflow. Padel Pointer on Apple Watch records the point-by-point score and timing Studio uses. The Watch does not connect to Studio separately: the match reaches your paired iPhone first, and you choose whether to send it from there.

Does Studio work out the score from my video?

No. Studio does not analyse the footage. It builds the scoreboard from the points you recorded in Padel Pointer on Apple Watch, which is why tapping every point during the match matters.

Does Studio upload every match automatically?

No. Your iPhone stays in control. You open Studio sync in Padel Pointer and select the individual matches you want to send.

Can I create a scoreboard for an Americano match?

Not currently. Americano and other point-race matches can appear in Studio, but scoreboard overlays currently support set-based matches only. Choose a setup such as Standard for your first test.

Can I set everything up using only one iPhone?

Yes. Create or sign in to Studio in the browser on that iPhone, tap Open in Padel Pointer, confirm the account, and choose your match. A laptop or iPad is more comfortable for styling and exporting, but it is not required for linking.

Which video editor should I use?

Use an editor that can place a transparent .mov file above your footage, such as Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, or CapCut. The exact import steps vary by editor.
